Soeharto & Human Nature
Monday, January 28, 2008
As we've already known..
Soeharto has just passed away..
I'm just wondering..
many people used to dislike him a lot because of his wrongdoings to this nation..
But now, today, in this time, many people are grieving for him..
I believe, that's how human nature works. Whoever dies, except he/she is the worst & destructive person in the world, people will find the best side of him/her.
And they will grieve for the death..
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun
Let's pray for Soeharto. May God forgive his mistakes and weaknesses,
and place him in the best place beside Him.
Amin.

i know, i believe there are people like these people, and there are ppl like you.. ppl r different..
but most ppl, they wont name his bad acts in his death like this..

anyway, today, in my US history class, we were talking about Soeharto. I feel bad though, cause I had to tell the class about his wrongdoings in his lifetime.. cause most students dont have any idea who he is..

that's weird because the only thing people i've met know about indonesia is either bali or the soeharto regime..which is rather depressing when you think about it..

well i agree w/ you. and thats what i meant too.

HOWEVER,
there's always people who wont forgive him that easily. Just like Mita. AND just like what the Germans respond nowadays to Hitler. They're ashamed of him. Eventhough Hitler's regime has triggered to a super-advanced progress in Germany, many Germans still hate him. A killer is a killer. A robber is a robber. A boasting man is a boasting man. Nothing can bring back those innocent lives who were killed and cheated. Nothing. That's why whoever he/she is, they should be punished.

Well, Hitler has killed himself. Good that at least he is no longer alive.
But Soeharto--he was supposed to be punished right after he was overthrown. But what happened was, as we all know, those law officers always cancel the court process, because of their so-called "courtesy". They thought, Soeharto used to be a #1 and powerful man in this country, therefore they should respect him.
Well I'm not blaming the Indonesian's culture of showing courtesy. But the thing is, those officers should have made exception for any crime cases. They should have shown their tiger teeth, even to Soeharto.
This is actually the point that I dont agree with. The fact that the law has been conquered by another power, is really shameful for me.
So what now, are we trying to blame Soeharto, or the error system in law enforcement?

ah, jadi teringat peribahasa...
Gajah di depan mata tak kelihatan. Semut di seberang kelihatan.
Karena nila setitik, rusak susu sebelanga.

Okay, K, so I know you're Kevin. You're a super good debater, I think I saw you once, debating.
yeah. two-sides.
I agree with that for sure. But the fact that he's not gonna get up from his death is obvious.
